Malnutrition is the primary reason behind 69% of deaths of children below the age of
five in India.
Every second child in India, belonging to that age group is affected by some form of malnutrition.
We are also home to 46.6 million stunted children, a third of the world's total as per Global
Nutrition Report 2018. Most of these children belong to the most vulnerable communities like
migrant workers.
Recognising the importance of Early Childhood Education and Care, Jan Sahas runs
initiatives for
ensuring nutrition, early childhood education and care through capacity building and system
strengthening. We are currently working directly with 418 Integrated Child Development Services
(ICDS) centres and has engaged with a total of 3,109 ICDS centres over the years, covering
42,874 children, 61,025 pregnant women and lactating mothers, 8,992 frontline workers and 22
Nutrition Rehabilitation towards our goal to ensure that no child dies of hunger and malnutrition.
